About Ryder's Health Science Projects Wish List

Teaching Infection Control-Donning and Doffing of Personal Protective Equipment- gowns, gloves, glasses, and masks. Handwashing skills-hand soap and hand sanitizer. Gummy Bear Lab- Large Size Gummy Bears and Sour Patch Kids to teach Medical Terminology directional body planes. Digestive System Lab-Supplies aprons and acrylic markers-students will design an apron including the structures of the digestive system. Cardiovascular Lab- Teaching the pathway of blood flow through the heart. Student use painters' tape to design a heart 5ftx5ft and direct the pathway of blood flow through the heart chambers and valves. Vitals Lab- learning the skills of assessing the 5 cardinal vital signs-blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and pain. Use of vitals equipment- thermometers- (oral, tympanic, scanning, digital), stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers. Health Science Careers Research-science fair project display boards, construction paper, labeling letters, markers, glue, posters. Dentition Lab- Learning "Smore" about teeth. Students use marshmallows to create a mouth-labeling the teeth using the international tooth numbering system. Then make smores using graham crackers and Hersheys. Pumpkinology Lab- Fall lab researching various pathology and decorating or carving pumpkins with the characteristics of the pathology.
