About Senior Warriors - SFISD Communications Department
Our Senior Warrior program is a program for our 65+ community members. We realized that this was a group of community members in Santa Fe who were being "missed". This group does not always have a reason to be connected to the school district, so we wanted to give them a reason to be connected! The 2025-2026 school year will be our third year for this program. We host four meetings each school year and one meeting during the summer. We provide lunch at each meeting and invite a different student group each time to present about their program and do a hands-on activity with our Senior Warriors. We have had the following groups of students work with our senior citizens: floral design, culinary arts, high school art, theatre arts, forensic science, health science, and elementary art. Our senior citizens have loved this! They are learning about what our students are doing, what programs our district has to offer, and having the opportunity to interact with our students and teachers. We also provide each senior citizen with a "Gold Pass" which allows them to get into any district event (athletics, fine arts, etc.) for free. This group started with 5 members and has grown to 40 members. We are so proud of the success of this group. Like everything else, it costs money to be able to provide lunch and the materials needed for the activities. Any donation that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
